Dear all,
I am not sure of the general rules when addressing people.
Should I use 'Mr.' or 'Mis.' for adults in general? Is it not polite
to use first names to address bosses or professors? Also for
professor, would the title 'Mr.' sound awkward or not respectful?
Any comments or ideas are welcome.
Thanks a lot!
Best wishes,
Lizzy

It is never wrong, to adults, to use Mr or Ms (so spelled, and
pronounced "Mizz") and the family name.

It is never wrong, to adults, to use "Sir" or "Ma'am"

It is never wrong to say "I am not sure how to address you. Please
tell me what you prefer."

Individuals will tell you if they prefer "Dr." (pronounced
Doctor),"Mrs." (pronounced Missiz), or "Miss."

Many companies and even Universities have a policy of using first
names. They will tell you if this is the case.
